Lazise - Culture

Villa Bernini, built in the second half of the nineteenth century, is situated in the area of the Scaligero castle which was built to provide protection when the town of Lazise was enclosed by walls. If you head towards the harbour you will reach the church of San Nicolò, built in the 12th century in a typically Romanesque style and the Venetian style dock that flanks the harbour, continuing along the lakeside you reach sixteenth century Villa Pergolana and next to the villa you can find the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Continuing along the streets of the town centre you will reach the parish church which is in the neo-classical style and is dedicated to saints Zeno and Martino and was rebuilt in the nineteenth century. There are many important villas in the Lazise area, amongst which Villa Bottona, built in the late nineteenth century in medieval style and Villa Baratta, with its large gardens. On the road that leads to Bussolengo you can find Mondragon, originally a feudal court, which still maintains the charm of long ago, there you can find the church dedicated to saints Faustino and Giovita.
